together

Well, we took a trip to the dr yesterday & the word is that......the boy may never have had hand, foot & mouth! We're still washing hands & being overall careful around the baby. But I got to get them all in the same picture. Not a good picture, mind you.....but all of them, nonetheless. Do you like the boy's glasses? They're his sister's - there's a lot of pink around him & it seems that there always will be.

China

PaPa came home from China bearing gifts for the kids......I'm telling you, this girl cracks me up. Her energy & those facial expressions....she's just started "posing" for the camera. No one asked her to do this - she came up with it all on her own.

the three

Here are some pictures of each of the kids while still in the hospital. I see little similarities with all 3 of them, but I can't tell totally who resembles who.....so what do you think???

State/Tech

So, it's apparently going to be a long season for the Mississippi State Bulldogs & I have to say "Mississippi State" each time before I say "bulldog" because Lee has made it clear that there are "good bulldogs & bad bulldogs" - he's a Tech fan. And I guess I can call myself a Tech fan now as well. Which is good because I will have a winning team to cheer for.....I hope. But being that I have been a State fan all of my life, I will continue to wear my colors this season & I will teach my kids a bout loyalty & dedication & all of the things that pull me through seasons like this.......Oh, it can be hard to pull for State sometimes.........
For the game this past weekend, we all got decked out. Lee was annoyed that we had more State stuff int he house than Tech stuff so he headed to the Tech bookstore on gameday to load up. COINCIDENTALLY, i wasn't able to find the boy's MSU hat or the baby's MSU hat..... so the boy is wearing his jackets hat & so is my girl.....he swayed her with it being pink and all. But in the end I won.....you see, while Lee & the girl were out shopping she made it clear that she plans to attend Mississippi State when she grows up.
Smart girl.

my boy

The boy, as you know, has been sick. He's not feeling sick or acting sick, but he is apparently still contagious so I haven't gotten to hang out with him as much as I want to.....because of this baby and all. So, today I finished feeding the baby & immediately handed her off, loaded the boy int he car & headed to the duck pond. We had the best time. He was so happy to be out & I was just enjoying the one on one time with my kid. He's got a joy about him that is simply contagious. He gets that from his daddy. I think God uses us all to teach each other a little something about Himself. God uses my children, especially, to teach me so many things.....but with my boy - i learn a lot about joy & tenderness. Oh, and you'll notice the GA Tech t shirt....it was a big day in our family. I am a Miss State fan - and I'll confess it even after the game today. We were a house divided.

reunited

These 2 are too much fun together. And with all the changes around this house it was a real treat for the big sister to have her best buddy come to town. They came to Atlanta yesterday for the Tech/Miss State game & took a trip to zoo....the big girl got to tag along. A nice little breather for me & a lot of laughs for these 2. I wish I could have seen it all - but the moment they were reunited was preiceless. I thought she was going to kiss him right on the lips.

sisters

I am so eager to have a picture of the 3 of them together - I wasn't planning on the boy being contagious for our homecoming & i think that must be one of the things God is teaching me right now - flexibility & trust. With all the worry that can come with having kids - the boy being sick has just added another dimension for me. I was talking with a friend about it the other day & we described the happy medium as being "cautious, but not freaky." I have a tendedncy to lean towards the "freaky" side, at least in the beginning....zeroing in on that .00001% worst case scenario. That's not a happy place to dwell.
So, anyway, here are the girls. That big sister is so proud. And you can see by the serene look on the baby's face that she is just adoring this moment of being handled by a 3 year old :).
Get used to it, sister! You've got quite a road of lovin' ahead of you!

eyes open!

Caught her with her eyes open! She looks so serious, doesn't she?
I have lots of pictures of her sleeping & will post some of those simply because she's adorable. But if I think to snap a picture at 3 AM you can see a different side of this tiny little thing with a monster pair of lungs. There are things about pregnancy, childbirth & this newborn stage that we don't truly remember - for why would we walk that road again?

sweet moment

This picture was taken while we were still in the hospital. It was early & no one was around. I realized that I had not really gotten to hold her. I would feed her & then pass her on to the next person who loved her. I didn't realize it until it was just me & her. It was so sweet. We hung out all morning. And i took this picture to remember our time together by. Isn't she sweet????

Sugar & Spice

Wow. I cannot believe she is actually here! It was a great labor & delivery & we couldn't be more excited! The big girl was overwhelmed with total joy to see her & show her off. Eyes so big & eager to be with her every moment. She just wanted us all to come home.

I will post more later as I have the energy & the togetherness to get the camera out.

haircut

Well, as you may have read, the girl took some scissors to her hair. It wasn't just terrible, but something about it made it "messy." And I just couldn't get a handle on it. I need her hair to be easy for the next month or several. So, we got it cut.

Everyone keeps telling me it's not that short......but I, for whatever reason, am having a hard time adjusting.

A delivery

Well, a package was delivered to the door today.....the energetic girl heard the doorbell & ran. A brown box was at the front door & she screamed, "I have a present for you, Mom! Look! It's a brown box!"
I smiled, looked at the return address.
"It's actually a present for you & your brother. Let's open it"
The baby sent them "Big Brother" & "Bis Sister" shirts.
The baby says, "I can't wait to meet you & I hope you will wear these shirts when you come see me for the very first time."

We're gettin' ready...............

the scissors.....

After naps this afternoon, the girl wanted to cut paper. So I grabbed her scissors & some paper & sent her to the porch. I had my eyes on her....most of the time.....
She walked in a little while later & handed me the scissors. My head turned a little & I jumped out of my chair....."You cut your hair. You cut your hair! You cut your hair?"
Calm down, Davis.....it's hair. You don't want to communicate vanity...but have you seen her precious red tinged hair? She senses that I'm not happy - but I didn't get mad. I remember the words of Lee's parents...."Was it childish irresponsibility or willful disobedience?"
Childish irresponsibility.
It's a memory in the making. We will laugh out loud later down the road as we look at the precious family pictures when this baby is born....the big sister....with a mullet. Because that's kind of what she's got going on. A bad 80s haircut. "Business in the front, party in the back" Her hair was in a pony tail when she did it. So she cut the left side & the right side & the back is untouched. I look at it now & guess it really could be worse. the scissors are away for now.....for a long time.

Lee saw her when he got home tonight & said, "So you cut your hair"
"Yeah, it will grow back later"
I know she's right........I'm just trying to get a handle on it.
My child of the 80s.

1st day

Today was the 1st day for the girl to go to preschool. For whatever reason, I have had a hard time pulling the trigger on this one but now that it's here....I'm excited for her. Especially with the baby coming, I think it will be great for her to have her own place to get away to a few hours a week. We started the day of well - a great breakfast & no problems getting out the door.
I told her I wanted to take a few pictures & she has started this new theatrical stance whenever the camera comes out so you'll get to see a very colorful side of my girl. And she is colorful.
This is her in the carpool line - cool as a cucumber. I teared up & yelled several "I LOVE YOU"s as she walked away & never looked back. The boy & I missed her very much...well, I took a nap & got some things done while the kid slept - so it was an A+ morning for us all, I would say.
We ended the night after an exciting afternoon that I'll post on in a moment. We celebrated the 1st dat of preschool with a cookie cake. Yum. This big fat pregnant woman enjoyed it.
