Finger painting

This is what happens when you are finger painting & you get really excited and start clapping your hands.......And this photo didn't catch nearly what was really all of the porch walls, windows, floor.

a new friend

The other night Lee & I had dinner with some old friends & our children became new friends. Man, they were cute together! And I must admit - I never thought it would be so easy to get my kid to voluntarily put herself in a "cage" - that's what she called it. They had a blast. Can you tell?

Fifteen minutes in the life of me

So, we went to a birthday party for a friend the other afternoon - it was at a super jump-jump place .... it was a blast. Lots & lots of smiles from the little girl. The parents were kind enough to serve pizza, to which I thought "Awesome. Dinner....check!" One less thing on my list....but, of course, she ate the ice cream for dinner & cake for dessert. And washed it all down with some apple juice. She & sugar don't mix well. Surely I have posted on this......& if not, just trust me - she goes crazy. Turns out I was the same way as a kid. Anyway, I have a point & I promise to get to it.....and I guess it's not really a "point"....it's just a story....and I think I have to document it whether anyone wants to read about it or not. So, we're at the party.....the sugar has been consumed & it's nearing time to go home.
"Can i go play?"
"Sure, but just for a few minutes because we need to get home"
SHe's jumping & jumping & climbing & laughing & every now & then she jumps up & I see her grinning adorable face.....full of joy. Only one time her head pops up & that beautiful smile definitely had a tint of blood to it.
"Get out. You're bleeding"
So she does. Minor lip bustage - she's gonna be fine. Whew.
"Let's go get your shoes & head on home"
While she's putting on her shoes, a pack of boys accidentally knock her down - she hits her bottom on a metal bar & tears & screams follow. I wanted to make sure she was OK, but I wasn't sure if I should lift her dress up in public & there's a little boy in my arms, which just makes it hard to maneuver....I have a feeling in my gut that she's really OK so we calm down & head for the car. She opened her goody bag, the crying stops & with tears still streaming she exclaims, "Oh MAN! It's all my favorites!"
She's good.
So we pull out headed towards home & I hear a muffled sound from the back.....I look in the rearview...she's choking. So i pull over, open the back door & pull out.....a gummy worm. And then she pukes all over me. This all happened over a span of FIFTEEN MINUTES!
And I ask you......how am I ready for a 3rd baby?

and finally - Happy 4th!

Well, we went to N Georgia for the 4th & had a great time. Laid back, cooler weather, a small town parade. It was so much fun. The girl waved her flag & caught her lollipops in the parade with pride. The boy was honestly just exhausted all day - that may be the only smiling picture I have of him. And we ate lunch at this fantastic BBQ buffet - hamburgers, watermelon, the works. The girl came running from the dessert table yelling, "MOM! LOOK WHAT I GOT!" And she seemed to enjoy her 1st piece of cheesecake with cherries on top. Hope you had a happy 4th, too.

just some togetherness

One thing I grew up with was a lot of family around me all the time. When Lee proposed to me, he flew to Jackson, MS & my family immediately all went to lunch - aunts, uncles, cousins. Everybody. And when lunch was finished we made plans to meet for dinner & when dinner was over, well, we knew that everyone would probably be over in the morning for a big pancake breakfast. This is a life I am used to. Thankfully, Lee's family likes to do things together as well. Every birthday is celebrated together & i love that! So, these are just some pictures from a family birthday party - thought you might like to see :).

Picture of the week

So we pulled out some finger paints & shaving cream the other day on the porch. I ran to get the camera & came back to this. I saw painful cries in the near future so soon after this picture was taken both kids were raced to the bathtub. Thankfully, no one seemed to mind the stuff getting in their eyes. It was a great afternoon. Do you have a favorite afternoon activity?

Monteagle baths

So, Uncle Ken & Cousin Carson gave the girl a blue push pop - something she has never seen before but brought her much delight....and hyperactivity....and stained her teeth apparently. It eventually went away, but these pictures were just too funny - especially being bathtime.

this weekend

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days - I still have more pictures from Monteagle to post & I'll get right on that. Lee & I took a weekend "away" in Atlanta this past weekend & had the BEST time. There are so many great places to eat in Atlanta & we were only able to hit a few (Agave, Mary Mac's, Rathbun's), but I must give a shout out to the key lime pie from Agave.....man, it was awesome. I was stuffed when the dessert menu came around, but when I saw that it had cinnamon whip cream I just knew I couldn't leave it behind...so we got it to go. Worth the misery of being so incredibly full.
So that's what we've been up to....I'll post more pictures.
What's your favorite restaurant....I want to say in Atlanta, but I think I would like to know your favorite restaurant wherever it is!
